Georgia Harrison, 32, from the UK, was on holiday with her boyfriend Arron Tye at the Lexia Hotel in Antalya. The mother of a 12-year-old daughter was supposed to fly home on May 7, but the day before she drank several cocktails and accidentally broke the glass door of the shower stall.
The next morning, the couple tried to escape: Harrison and Tye went to the airport, but they were arrested there. According to the woman, after the interrogation she was thrown into a prison with 300 men and banned from leaving the country until she paid the hotel £15,000 in compensation.
"I'm trapped, I don't have that kind of money. I paid my lawyer, I paid for my hotel and local rent and I hit a wall," the British woman told The Sun. Under a travel ban, she tried various ways to leave the country, even trying to get to Greece by boat, but each time she was asked for her passport and refused to leave.
The traveller has been in Turkey for almost seven weeks while her relatives raise funds so she can return to Britain. The woman's lawyer claims the damage to the hotel is worth no more than £1,000.
