Bentley revived the production of an old supercar with a new power plant (9 photos)
Bentley and Hedley Studios have launched serial production of the Blower Jr. This is a copy of one of the most famous Bentle models of the early last century, the 1929 Blower, electrified and reduced to 85%. Only 349 of these cars will be built, with deliveries starting at the end of summer.
The appearance of the Bentley Blower Jr. is copied from the original, stored in the company's factory museum. At the same time, the length of the electric car is only 3.7 meters with a width of 1.5 meters. The cabin has two seats installed one behind the other, capable of accommodating an adult pilot and a passenger.
The design of the "new product" partially repeats the original, but is supplemented with modern solutions. For example, the chassis uses Brembo brakes, and the rear of the body is made of carbon. A number of authentic-looking switches in the cabin received new functions: the handle of the manual fuel pump selects the operating modes of the driving electronics, and the transmission selector has become the ignition timing regulator. The standard ammeter now shows the battery charge level.
The Bentley Blower Jr is driven by a 20-horsepower electric motor, which can accelerate the electric car to a maximum of 72 km/ h (in the USA, the maximum speed will be limited to 40 km/ h). The estimated range is just over 100 kilometers. Bentley especially emphasizes that the electric car is allowed to drive on public roads. The company spent a year and a half developing and testing prototypes.
