USA spends week catching zebra that escaped from owner (5 photos + 1 video)
A week-long search for a zebra in Tennessee has caught the moment the fugitive was lifted into the air by helicopter. 
"Ed the zebra was flown to a pet trailer," the sheriff's office said.
The zebra's owner reported it missing on May 31, one day after Ed arrived at his new home in Christiana.
Ed was caught on video while galloping along a busy Interstate 24 highway. Authorities were forced to close the road.
The animal became an internet sensation during its eight-day journey through central Tennessee, with memes appearing online.
On Friday morning, Rutherford County Sheriff's deputies found the missing pet using a drone. They spotted him in a field near Christiana. Authorities asked residents not to approach Ed: "The owner warned that the presence of people and cameras disturbs the animal and interferes with its rescue. Please stay away from the area so the zebra can return home safely."
"We don't want to scare the animal," said Cpl. Shaun White. "It's going to take a while for it to calm down. The Sheriff's Department has requested veterinary assistance."
It's unclear why the airlift was required.
It comes just a month after a search for a kangaroo in Alabama. The animal, named Sheila, was spotted hopping along the side of Highway 85 in Macon County. Police closed both sides of the highway.
"When somebody said there was a kangaroo, I obviously didn't believe it. Nobody did. But I'm looking at it," Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson said on live TV after the marsupial was captured.
