Saves life: dog leads people to its owner dying near home (2 photos + 1 video)
A 13-year-old dog saved the life of its 84-year-old owner, who was dying outside his home. A deputy sheriff in Stevens County, Washington (USA) came across the dog in the middle of the roadway while patrolling a rural wooded area.
"Wright tried to put the dog in the car to find its owner, but the dog did not obey. The deputy decided to check the surrounding houses within a mile, but was unable to find anyone," the law enforcement agency said in a statement.
When Wright tried to take the dog off the road again, it ran along an unmarked road. The police officer followed and saw a small summer house. There, on the ground, lay a grandfather calling for help.
"The 84-year-old pensioner, who had a number of illnesses and needed regular medication, fell and injured his leg. He lay there for several hours," the police reported.
It turns out that his 13-year-old dog, whose name is Gita, noticed that the owner was in trouble and could not get up, decided to get help and waited for people to appear on the road.
"We are grateful to Gita for saving a man's life. The loyalty and heroism of our four-legged friends never ceases to amaze," local authorities said.
