In Shanghai moved a 7,500-ton historical building complex
432 robotic "legs" helped in the work, which, step by step, covered 10 meters per day.
This is the largest project in China to return the shikumen complex to its original location: the buildings were temporarily moved for the construction of an underground space, and now they are being returned exactly to their historical position. The buildings were built in the 1920s and 1930s and represent a unique brick and wood ensemble with a total area of more than 4 thousand square meters.
The relocation was made possible by precise 3D planning and special small-sized robots. The technologies made it possible to preserve the architectural heritage and free up space for a modern underground space with exits to three metro lines.
