Paraglider almost froze to death when he was sucked into the clouds
A Chinese thrill-seeker lost control of his paraglider while flying over the Qilian Mountains.
A Chinese paraglider named Liu Ge almost died while flying over the Qilian Mountains in the north of the country.
During the flight, he found himself in a dangerous situation when he lost control of his paraglider after getting caught in a rare atmospheric phenomenon called a “cloud suction.”
The vortex lifted him to an altitude of about 8.5 kilometers. The air in this area was very thin, and the temperature reached -40 degrees Celsius. Liu Ge did not have an oxygen mask, which significantly complicated the situation and put his life at risk.
Despite the extreme conditions, the man remained conscious for about 20 minutes. At some point, he managed to stabilize the paraglider and land. He is currently in hospital recovering, but his flight has attracted the attention of security services because it was carried out without coordination with the air traffic control service.
