Melania Trump Statue Stolen in Slovenia (4 photos)
In 2020, a bronze sculpture in her honor was unveiled in Sevnica, the hometown of the US First Lady. The work of art was life-size, and the author tried to make it as close to the original as possible. And, let's be honest, he didn't quite succeed.
The statue was originally made of wood, carved from a linden tree trunk. Melania was depicted in a pale blue dress, similar to the one she wore at the inauguration of President Trump in 2017. But vile ill-wishers burned it.
Gentlemen hussars, we are not laughing! This is art.
Then it was decided to replace this masterpiece with a more durable version. Bronze and the inexhaustible imagination of the sculptor were used. The statue was sculpted, placed on a stump so that no one would drag it away, and everyone calmed down.
Bronze beauty
But here's the problem, the other day residents discovered that someone, under cover of darkness, had sawed off the slender legs and dragged the bronze Melania away in an unknown direction. Only a stump remained.
The police are looking for the kidnappers.
Franja Kranjc, who works at a bakery in Sevnica that sells cakes with Melania Trump's name in support of the first lady, said no one would be sorry about the stolen statue.
"I don't think anyone was proud of this statue, not even the first lady of the United States," she said. "So I think it's okay that it was stolen."
