Temuraz Kubanovich Vanacha (1868–1984) - cavalryman, a long-liver who maintained good spirits until he was 116 years old. This amazing man lived through three eras:
World War I – served in the 4th (Abkhaz) hundred of the Circassian Cavalry Regiment, was awarded the St. George Cross of the 4th degree for bravery;
Civil War;
The Great Patriotic War (at 73 he tried to enlist in the front, but was refused because of his age).
Temuraz Vanacha not only lived to record years – he remained active until the end: he participated in horse races, played in the Narty ensemble, which consisted of long-livers, and worked on tea plantations.
In 1977, he became the star of an advertisement for the American company Dannon. The video, filmed in the USSR, claimed that yogurt helped him live to 105 years, but thanks to his strength of spirit, love of movement and work, Temuraz crossed this threshold.
