It's a difficult matter to dispose of all the bad stuff. The Turkish police tried their best to do everything right, but it turned out so-so.
The police in the city of Lice (population 25,000) carried out a large-scale drug disposal operation - as many as 20 tons of marijuana seized from a drug dealer. The destroyed cannabis products worth 10 billion Turkish lira (US$261,433,808) were seized during 226 drug enforcement operations conducted in 2024.
The employees made a beautiful sign from bags of grass almost in the city center, used 200 liters of diesel fuel and set it all on fire. So much so that critics still call this disgrace an unprofessional method of disposal.
"Although the operations carried out by the security forces deserve praise and deal a significant blow to production and street dealers, burning cannabis in the city center is unprofessional," said Yahya Oger, president of the Green Star Association, which deals with the fight against addictions.

Dense smoke blanketed the entire city for several days, causing residents to experience symptoms of intoxication, including dizziness, nausea, and hallucinations. Crowds of people flocked to the local hospital, but despite this, no official complaints were filed against the hapless police officers who managed to smoke up the entire city.
