An octopus "hugs" a cameraman
Australian videographer Jules Casey captured a moment that no one had ever captured before: a Maori octopus approached the camera, hugged it with its tentacles, and calmly swam away.
The video was shot at a pier in the town of Paradise. Casey has been interacting with the octopus for several months now, and Priscilla recognizes her, feels calm, and even shows interest in technology. According to the camerawoman, such “hugs” are not an exception. Priscilla regularly reaches out to the camera, and sometimes to Casey herself.
The videographer is currently filming a short film about the life of Priscilla and other Maori octopuses living in the area. She is exploring how trusting relationships are formed between a person and an octopus.
