Following an old tradition, we start this Saturday with news from overseas.
According to eyewitnesses, the Cessna 310R plane began circling immediately after takeoff — probably due to a breakdown on board, the pilot wanted to use up fuel to return to the departure airport. As a result, the Cessna crashed in the Boca Raton area near the airport, hitting a car along the way. The driver tried to avoid the collision and crashed into a tree, causing the car to catch fire.
"The plane apparently had some kind of mechanical issue and went down," Michael LaSalle, assistant fire chief for Boca Fire Rescue, said at a news conference.
Unofficial reports are emerging that the plane repeatedly requested permission to make an emergency landing at the Boca Raton airport in Florida, where it departed, but was denied permission to land.
Boca Raton Airport denies denying the Cessna 320R permission to land. The airport says they were in constant communication with the pilot, but the pilot was unable to level the plane off for landing.
According to preliminary information, three people on board were killed. The driver of the car was injured.

The crash of a small plane in South Florida occurred the day after a New York sightseeing helicopter broke apart in mid-air and crashed upside down into the Hudson River, killing the pilot and a family of five Spanish tourists.
