A woodpecker that settled on the street damages people’s cars and makes neighbors quarrel with each other
Residents of Rockport have encountered an unusual vandal - a woodpecker that methodically damages people's cars by breaking mirrors. The bird's first victim was Janelle Favaloro, who discovered in the morning that her property was damaged.
At first, the family suspected each other, then their neighbors, but when similar damage appeared on other people, it became clear: the culprit was a woodpecker.
"He was jumping on cars, and we didn't even think that he was causing damage," Favaloro said.
As experts explained, such behavior is typical for the mating season.
"Woodpeckers attack their reflections, mistaking them for rivals," experts said.
Despite the damage caused, local residents treat the situation with humor. The bird has become a local celebrity, and its "exploits" are a reason for jokes among neighbors. The owners of the damaged cars are not planning to take action yet, hoping that with the end of the mating season the problem will resolve itself.
