A British man bought a suitcase lost at the airport and showed what was inside (6 photos + 1 video)
Airports in many countries have a rule that if a suitcase remains unclaimed for several months and the owner cannot be contacted, the luggage is put up for sale. Carmi Sellitto bought a lost suitcase at Heathrow Airport in the UK for £129.99 and filmed the unpacking process.
In his video, Carmi explained: “All luggage sold at Heathrow is unclaimed. There is no doubt that the airport authorities are working hard to find the rightful owner. It can take months.”
Buying lost luggage isn't always a good deal. While some lucky people can find luxurious and expensive items, others are content with dirty laundry and cheap souvenirs that are worth much less than what they paid for the bag.
Karmi opened the suitcase and saw the briefcase first, but he couldn't open it. He had better luck with shoes: one pair was from Gucci (albeit dirty), and another from Alexander McQueen. He then picked up a T-shirt, but the smell was "so bad" that he felt sick. Next, the man came across a Cartier jewelry box, but it was empty, leaving only a receipt for 2,400 euros.
He also saw underwear and socks, which he did not want to touch.
Karmi also found a Prada bag with a brand new handbag, but he couldn't tell if it was real or fake. Finally, he found a vintage Louis Vuitton bag with a wallet inside. He found the girl's ID and decided to return the luggage to its rightful owner.
"I put everything back in the suitcase, as it was," Sellitto said. Now he intends to meet the owner of the things.
His video has collected many comments: "This is crazy! You hit the jackpot!"; "My fear of bedbugs would never allow me to do this"; "I wonder if he bought my luggage that was lost by Air France."
