American wove the world’s longest chain from chewing gum wrappers
Gary Michael Duschl got into the Guinness Book of Records thanks to a very long chain of gum wrappers, which he has been weaving for the past 55 years.
The fashion for such funny chains was popular in the 1960s, but the newly-minted record holder from Virginia (USA), who is now 70 years old, did not abandon his teenage hobby, but continued to weave and weave his chain, hoping that one day it will become a record.
After the official measurement, it was announced that Gary's creation was not just long, but mind-bogglingly long - 32,555.68 meters.
The question immediately arises: did the man chew all the gum himself? The answer is negative, because then the record holder would have to chew almost constantly, so all his friends collected materials for the chain for him.
Now Gary can rightfully be proud of himself. He admitted that he always wanted to get into the Guinness Book of Records, but, not having any outstanding abilities, he had to rely solely on determination and hard work.
