This is the second failure of the ship launch this year.

The eighth test launch of the prototype of the super-heavy spacecraft Starship from Elon Musk's SpaceX ended in failure. The ship, designed for manned flights to low Earth orbit, the Moon and, possibly, Mars, exploded at an altitude of 150 kilometers after 10 minutes of flight. Experts assume that there was a problem with the Raptor engines, since communication with the ship was lost shortly after its separation from the launch vehicle.

According to SpaceX, there was a "rapid unscheduled dismantling" - the ship began to rotate and soon exploded. Spectacular "fireworks" in the sky caused by the burning debris of the ship were seen by residents of the United States, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.

"During the flight, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly and contact with it was lost. Our team immediately began coordinating with safety officials to implement pre-planned contingency responses. We will review the data from today's flight test to better understand the root cause. As always, success comes from what we learn, and today's flight will offer additional lessons to improve the reliability of Starship," the company said.

It is noted that this is the second test of the ship this year that ends in failure. Much the same thing happened on January 17 - the ship exploded shortly after stage separation due to a fuel leak.

As reported by the media, the Starship debris fell within a pre-determined area. However, in order to avoid a possible emergency, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a temporary flight restriction at Florida airports after the incident with the ship.

But every cloud has a silver lining — the Super Heavy launch vehicle was able to successfully return to the launch pad and, to applause, effectively "park" at the "Mechazilla" — the tower for catching the booster.

Starship is the heaviest reusable two-stage system in the history of space flights. Its height is 121 meters, and its mass is 5 thousand tons. The system consists of the Super Heavy launch vehicle and the Starship. It is noted that today Starship is already capable of launching cargo weighing up to 150 tons into low orbit.
