Elon Musk's new super-heavy rocket exploded shortly after launch
Well, at least it took off this time.
At an altitude of 38 kilometers, the rocket began to have problems - it began to spin randomly around its axis and exploded. According to SpaceX, the cause of the emergency is in the first stage, which did not separate from the rocket in time. However, why this happened, Musk's specialists have yet to find out.
Initially, the rocket launch was scheduled for Monday, but the launch was canceled due to technical problems. Today, during the countdown, when there was less than a minute left before the launch, the launch was also suspended to check the technical condition of the rocket. But reinsurance did not save.
The broadcast host did not lose his head and said that Starship had experienced a "quick unscheduled dismantling" before the separation of the stage.
Despite the fact that the spacecraft failed to go into space, Elon Musk is full of optimism.
The head of SpaceX called the Starship explosion an exciting test launch and congratulated his employees. Musk noted that in a few months there will be a new launch and he learned a lot from the mistakes of today.
Starship is the most powerful rocket in the history of space exploration. It is called a new generation rocket because it is completely reusable - both of its stages are capable of landing on the tail. It is Starship, if all goes well, that will take NASA astronauts to the moon under the Artemis program in 2025 or 2026.
