The annual seagull cry imitation championship was held in France. The tournament in the port town of Dunkirk is being held for the twelfth time.

The new seagull cry imitation champion in 2025 was 24-year-old Michel Pollamuette. He was dressed in a curly blond wig, yellow boots and a fur coat with pins. His performance was highly praised by the jury. By the way, the jury included a famous figure of the carnival, Keith Moche.
Second place went to a 42-year-old man named Moumun, who was dressed in a corsair costume. According to the man, to prepare for the competition, he drank salt water, hid in sand hills and watched the activities of seagulls for a long time, but this still did not help him.
The Dunkirk Carnival, dating back to the 17th century, lasts more than three months and includes many traditions, including throwing herring from the balcony of the town hall.
The championship in imitation of the cry of a seagull has long been one of the established traditions of the carnival, where participants present the piercing sounds of this bird to the audience. An important aspect of the competition is not only the original cries, but also the bright costumes, complemented by elements symbolizing a seagull, which creates a unique atmosphere for the event.
In addition, this year, for the second time, a seagull cry championship was held among children aged 4 to 12 years.
