Belgian Seagull Imitation Championship
You know how insulting it is when your friends have any medals. For example, for winning the Olympiad in mathematics, for achievements in boxing or football. What to do if a person is not strong either in sports or in science? It doesn't matter, there will always be a tournament that will reveal your talent! For example, in Belgium there was a gull imitation championship. About 50 imitators from all over Europe gathered in the seaside town of De Panne. To win, it was necessary to accurately depict the cry of these birds and their habits, writes Reuters.
“We thought it would be good to make people more sympathetic to seagulls, because they are part of the coastal zone, without seagulls there is no coast,” says Jan Seis, chairman of the jury of the competition and head of the press service of the Flanders Maritime Institute.
The guys whose parodies met two important criteria reached the final: similarity with the cry of a seagull (up to 15 points) and imitation of the habits of a bird (up to 5 points). According to the jury, 21-year-old Yarmo, an architecture student from the Netherlands, looked most like a seagull.
