Cats are now available in Japan by subscription (5 photos)

Of course, you can get a cat for life. But how about a new service that doesn't require you to take responsibility for a whole cat? Or better yet, take it on a subscription for a month or two.

By the way, have you noticed that Japanese cats have slightly different faces from European ones?

How much does a cat subscription cost

Now all services are subscription-based, and it's incredibly annoying. But the Japanese aren't. Because Noraneko Bank in Tokyo launched its "Neko Hodai" ("Unlimited Cat") service. For a paltry 380 yen per month, members could adopt a cat.

The company runs a shelter for stray cats, so they have a ton of them!

Is this normal?

Many people online said it was weird to treat living beings like things. And who's going to monitor how cats are treated this month? No one's checking the person who rents a cat. And they return them at no extra charge.

There are questions about whether it is stressful for a cat to change owners often, especially in adulthood. It turns out that there is no stable home.

But any home is better than living in a shelter cage 24/7. However, after the advertisement, the company itself said that it received even more applications for subscriptions than they had cats in stock!

Company finished off

After public complaints, Noraneko Bank said that it would no longer provide cats by subscription and would cancel recurring payments.

However, those who come to the shelter to look at cats are still offered to "take a cat for a while to see how you get along with it" for a small fee.

Oh, if only we could get cats for a month by subscription now, instead of all this

That is, the essence of the service remained the same, they just removed the annoying word "subscription for a cat". And everyone immediately calmed down, as hypocrites should.

Personally, I think that this was a real shelter that cares about cats, and not those endless shelters that find homes for cats and require people to provide proof of income and that they have enough space. Such people simply turn people away from shelters, I am deeply disappointed with the work of animal shelters.

And in Japan, they just want to give a person a chance to try to see if he can handle caring for a cat. At the same time, to say that everything is fine, if he can't handle it, he can return the cat, there is no need to secretly take her out into the forest - this is bad and unethical.

And this is a cat shelter in Syria. THAT'S POWERFUL! (I hope he's okay)

The healthiest attitude to such a serious matter.
