Cats are no longer illegal in Singapore (8 photos)

Singapore, of course, is a country of prohibitions, but this ban is the strictest! Because for 34 years it was illegal to keep cats in public housing! But small dogs are always welcome.

Moreover, the ban is quite stupid. Small dogs are much more likely to bark out of emotion and loneliness, bite and cause a lot of problems. But evil is cats.

Outlaw cats

Singapore stray cat, you can't be someone's, you can be nobody's

As expected, there is a whole list of permitted and prohibited species.

62 breeds of dogs, fish and birds are strictly described. But all cats without exception have been banned since 1989.

In a private house you are allowed to do whatever you want. But 80% of the country's population lives in public housing. So, according to the law, 4/5 of the entire population did not have the right to have a cat. Incredible cruelty!

I have already written about the fact that Singapore is a city of prohibitions.

Why didn't you like them so much? It was believed that cats were often allowed out of the apartment to walk alone. And cats can wander into other people’s apartments, and this is an attack on someone else’s peace. Well, if they mark a corner or go to the toilet, then you won’t find anyone to issue a fine to.

The Singapore cat stopped the flow of water and seemed to say - WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ME?

In general, freedom-loving cats are like a red rag to a bull for Singapore, which is thoroughly regulated by the rules of “don’t stand here, don’t go.”

There's no stopping cat lovers

Now that the ban has been lifted, cat owners are everywhere. They honestly admit that they simply found a cat and took it for themselves, not even knowing that this was prohibited.

I don’t even understand how THIS gives you less problems than a cat

Although the fine for an illegal cat when it was discovered was considerable - 3 thousand dollars.

No one reported them to the police (are there people who are against cats?), and no one organized special raids to identify cats in houses.

Do you know that with such a dislike for cats, there is even a breed - the Singapore cat? Beautiful

Many owners simply did not tell anyone that they had a cat. They didn’t let neighbors into the house, and they didn’t let cats roam, and they lived like that for years.

They simply couldn’t leave the kitten on the street and committed a crime out of pity. Some have accumulated up to 10 cats in their homes in this way, as “decriminalized” Singaporeans now share.

Crazy cat people are an international phenomenon. Cats conquer every country

They just found a way to regulate everyone

Cats were allowed not because the hearts of the authorities softened. But because they found an easy way to control any animal.

Now every owner must have their cat microchipped, and strays are microchipped at state expense. This way it will be immediately clear whose pet is breaking the rules!

They also want to microchip our cats. But the severity of the law is not offset by the obligatory nature of its implementation, as is known

The rules officially come into force in 2024. There is only six months left to hide, and then it will be revealed that Singapore is simply filled to capacity with previously illegal cats!
