In the Mexican city of Ocoyoacac, located west of the country's capital Mexico City, locals were stunned by an unexpected encounter - a lion was roaming the streets. The huge cat was first spotted early in the morning of February 12 at about 7 a.m.

Motorists passing by a warehouse in this small town were forced to slow down when they saw the dangerous predator. Police were called to the scene, but they were unable to track down the dangerous animal immediately.

It was later revealed that the lion had escaped from the local Recica Animal Foundation rescue center, which houses animals rescued from circuses and illegal captivity. In addition to lions, the shelter is home to tigers, panthers, leopards, and several species of monkeys.

While the police were patrolling the streets, the shelter staff managed to find the lion and safely return it to the center. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the operation to capture the animal was carried out without incident.



The incident caused a lively reaction on social media. One local compared the incident to the plot of the movie "Jumanji", while another joked: "This is a huge kitten." Among the comments there were also references to famous characters.

"Is this Simba, is he still looking for Scar?", "Is this you, Aslan?" - they wrote.

Luckily, this incident ended without casualties or destruction, and the lion was again in the safe hands of specialists.
