A lion who escaped from a circus was walking through the Italian city of Ladispoli. The mayor of the city, Alessandro Grando, announced this on the social network X.
Important message! A lion escaped from a circus located on Mediterraneo Street... Circus workers, with the support of law enforcement agencies who promptly arrived at the scene, are conducting an operation to capture the animal. Please be as careful as possible and avoid moving until there is a new message.
Residents of the city were shocked to see a large adult lion on the streets of the town. The Italians filmed it and posted it on social networks.
Many Italian residents were glad that the wild animal managed to escape from captivity. But some Italians came out of their houses with guns, citing the newspaper il Messaggero.
Six hours later, circus employees and police were able to tranquilize the lion by shooting him with a syringe containing sleeping pills. The circus from which he escaped is located 500 meters from the end point of his journey, which lasted almost six hours.
The lion was given sleeping pills and caught. Now he will be handed over to the circus employees,” Grando said.
The mayor of the city expressed hope that the incident will force society to reconsider its attitude towards the use of predators in circuses.
