Backpack saves German skier's life during an avalanche
The extreme sportsman was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. A 50-year-old skier from Germany found himself in the epicenter of an avalanche in the Alps, in the area of the Colle del Gigante hill on Mont Blanc. He flew 300 meters down the slope, but survived thanks to his backpack.
The man had a special avalanche backpack with him, equipped with an airbag. It was this that made the fall less harsh and allowed the skier to group himself in time. Eyewitnesses immediately called the rescue service to the scene.
The man was taken to the nearest hospital by helicopter. An examination showed that the extreme sportsman received minor injuries and will soon be able to go home.
