American Man Finds Unexpected Resident Under His House (7 Photos + 1 Video)
A Los Angeles man made a shocking discovery when he returned to his home after the devastating Eaton Fire. Sami Arbid, 41, found a massive 500-pound bear in the basement.
“I set up a camera in the basement and found a huge bear. I don’t think he left the house much during the fire. He was scared,” Arbid told CBS News.
The situation became more complicated when the gas company refused to restore gas to the house because of the clubfoot resident.
The bear was too big to be sedated, so conservationists had to get creative to lure it out.
"They went to Stater Brothers [supermarket] and bought chicken, sardines, tomato sauce, apples, peanut butter," Arbid explains. — They made a feast for him."
The bear couldn't resist and left the shelter. After the meal, they installed a GPS collar on him and took him to the national park.
"The biologist admitted that it was the largest bear he had ever seen in real life," the homeowner added.
It turned out that the huge beast was well known to local residents, they even named him Victor. Before the fire, he lived in a nearby canyon.
Neighbor Patty Smith said: "He's pretty harmless. I don't know if he was hurt in the fire. Maybe his paws were burned, but he found shelter here."
