A High-Mountain Pub Covered in Snow Along with Its Visitors (4 photos)

The British pub Tan Hill Inn, located at an altitude of 528 meters, was trapped in snow during a severe snowstorm.





Despite the warning about a possible snowstorm, 23 people, including a 4-year-old child and a dog, decided to visit the pub last Saturday. The forecasters were right, the snowstorm really started, and in a few hours there were decent snowdrifts.

Pub manager Nicola Hayes said she didn't know how long the situation would last as snow ploughs were struggling to clear the drifts.

"The problem is getting from the A66 to here. There was only one plough yesterday but it was struggling and couldn't clear the whole road. The drifts just kept coming back behind the driver as soon as they cleared them."





She added that she also had to provide alibis for some of her guests.

"Some customers had to be at work yesterday, so I took selfies with them to prove that they were stuck here with me," she said.

People are not discouraged, the pub has a month's supply of alcohol and provisions. The stranded people have been having parties there, playing board games and enjoying beer. Guests were not charged for the extra time they spent in the pub's hotel, but they were asked to make a donation to the Mountain Rescue charity.

This is the second incident since 2021. Then, as many as 60 people had a good time in the snow captivity.
