Toyota has been cutting production for the tenth month in a row, but plans to expand to China (3 photos)
Toyota has published its official results for November 2024, coming to a disappointing conclusion. For a number of reasons, vehicle production volumes both worldwide and in individual regions have declined again, for the tenth time in a row. However, sales were able to increase, although the increase was less than 2%.
In November, Toyota plants around the world produced 870 thousand cars, which is 6.2% less than the figure for November 2023. The most serious decline was noted, for example, in production in Japan (minus 9.3%) and in the USA (minus 11.8%). In North America, even the restart of the assembly of large Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX crossovers, which was stopped due to technical problems, did not help to restore the indicators.

In China, the production volumes of new cars also slightly decreased, but compared to October, the situation has improved significantly: only minus 1.6% instead of the previous 9%. In addition, the company notes the local market success of some models. For example, the Granvia and Sienna vans are selling well, as well as the bZ3 electric sedan produced together with FAW and BYD. But the success of the new Camry 80 on the Chinese market, by the way, is not mentioned in the reports.

In annual terms, the concern's indicators are also falling. Production for the period from January to November fell by more than 5%, sales fell by 1.2%. At the same time, in November, the concern was able to show a 1.7% increase in sales at the global level, but mainly due to sales in third-party markets, since within Japan itself, the popularity of Toyota and Lexus has been falling for the second month. At the same time, Toyota hybrid models with different types of power plants have become more popular by 24 to 38%, the popularity of electric cars has grown by 21%.
It is noteworthy that against this background, Toyota announced a plan to strengthen its presence in China. By 2027, a completely new plant will be built in Shanghai, which is expected to specialize in the production of Lexus brand electric cars.
