Passenger tried to hijack a plane and fly to the USA
A man attacked a flight attendant and tried to enter the cockpit to divert a flight from Leon to Tijuana, Mexico, to the United States.
The man was on board the plane with his wife and two children. He explained his failed hijacking by saying that his relative had been kidnapped. After taking off from Leon, the man received a message warning that the kidnapped person would die if he flew to Tijuana.
The airline's statement on the social network X stated: - Volaris reports that this morning on flight 3041, which was en route from El Bajío to Tijuana, a passenger attempted to forcefully divert the plane to the United States. The crew acted in accordance with established security procedures and, in accordance with protocol, the plane was diverted to Guadalajara Airport, where the airline handed the passenger over to the competent authorities.
According to the airline, all passengers, crew and the plane were not injured and are currently safe. "The remaining passengers were given the opportunity to continue their flight to their final destination. Volaris regrets the inconvenience caused by this situation," the airline added.
