Always dreamed of being tall: woman spent $2.6 million on leg lengthening surgery (7 photos)
Angelina Tran, 33, who has always dreamed of being taller, has made her dream come true by undergoing radical leg-lengthening surgery. The surgery cost the 1.55m woman $2.6 million.
Angelina admitted that she had been saving up to trade in her old Toyota Corolla for a Tesla, but eventually decided to invest in her body. Despite her family and friends urging her not to undergo the risky surgery, the woman went to Turkey to make her dream come true.
"When I moved from Vietnam to the US at the age of 12, I noticed that I was surrounded by tall women everywhere. I even bought vitamins and medicines in the hopes of increasing my height a little, but of course it didn't work because the reason is genetic," says Tran.
She was also influenced by social media, which is full of photos of tall women with long legs.
"I wanted to be their height, but all I could do was wear higher heels. I was really tired of altering all my clothes to make them short enough. I wanted to be happy and satisfied with the way I looked," adds Angelina.
Before the leg lengthening surgery, Angelina had X-rays and blood tests. She was operated on by Dr. Yuksel Yurtas, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in this type of procedure.
"They gave me a remote control that stretches the bones and lengthens my legs with a magnet 3-4 times a day. It's incredibly painful, but knowing that my legs are growing 1 mm every day helped me move forward. I cried so much that they called me the drama queen," the woman recalls.
Two months after the operation, her height increased to 165 centimeters. At the end of November, Angelina returned home after 12 weeks in Turkey.
"Now I have to keep doing the exercises. I'm happy I had the surgery. It was worth the pain and the money," Tran adds.
According to doctors, the full recovery period can last up to 12 months.
