Doctors made an American impotent by prescribing the wrong treatment, but he won a record compensation (4 photos)
Since 2017, the poor guy has not had sex, but he was awarded $412 million for medical negligence. Was it worth it?
In 2017, an Albuquerque resident came to the clinic complaining of chronic fatigue syndrome and weight loss. Doctors prescribed the man a treatment that included the use of a drug for erectile dysfunction.
According to the doctors' prescription, the patient injected testosterone into his penis, but, in his opinion, this only caused a prolonged erection, but nothing more. After some time, the man decided that the treatment was not helping and went back to the doctors, but they insisted on continuing the injections.
As a result, the man needed emergency surgery, after which he became impotent. His lawyers said that their client "cannot have an erection, cannot urinate while standing, and has irreversible fibrosis of the penis." The unfortunate American sued the clinic.
One of his defenders at the court hearing said that NuMale, the clinic where the man sought help, only profits from its patients, tricking them into unnecessary procedures. Which, by the way, are unsafe for health and can lead to tragic consequences.
As a result, the jury sided with the plaintiff and awarded him $412 million in the lawsuit against the clinic. The amount in the case of medical malpractice is simply a record, notes ABC News. By the way, the man was 66 years old at the time of his visit to the clinic. Frankly, he is not a boy. And now he is not a rich boy either.
