Jane Eastman often searches for long-lost items. She recently found an antique bottle, the contents of which surprised her. 
Treasure hunter Jane Eastman shared an amazing find from the bottom of a river in England. The woman found a glass bottle from the Victorian era, filled with pickles. Jane shared her "treasure" on Instagram.
According to Jane, this "time capsule" was the strangest find in all her expeditions. In a video posted on her page, the woman demonstrates a green glass bottle with a relief cap, pulled out of the mud. The lid was marked "W & D Harvest Dowgate Dock London". Jane guessed that it dated back to between 1890 and 1910, based on other finds in the same location.
She explained that W & D Harvest had been trading spices and pickles in Upper Thames Street, London, since the 1870s.
"This bottle was incredibly airtight. It was perfectly preserved - a real time capsule," she wrote.
The bottle is made of water glass and is a different shape to the usual pickle jars. Jane explained that such finds help explain why long pickle jars were popular in the Victorian era. She decided not to open the bottle, but to seal the lid with sealing wax to preserve the find in its original form.
Jane's subscribers, who number more than 335 thousand, actively discussed what could have happened to the contents of the bottle over more than 100 years.
"I wonder if these cucumbers can still be eaten? They look delicious!" - one user commented.
