Maori took to the largest protest in the history of New Zealand
More than 40,000 people have gathered outside New Zealand's parliament to protest a bill that would reinterpret an 1840 agreement between British colonialists and the indigenous Maori people. The Maori believe that the bill would call their rights into question.
Critics of the bill fear that its approval could lead to unrest in the country and restrictions on the rights of the Maori. However, it is noted that the likelihood of the bill being passed is low.
