May 1, 2024 marks thirty years since Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, three-time Formula 1 world champion, tragically died during a race in Bologna, Italy.
Using hundreds of glowing drones, professionals have created the face of the Brazilian pilot in the sky above the Interlagos race track, as well as symbols associated with him. Among them are his helmet and his autograph.
"When people ask me who inspires me, I always answer - Ayrton Senna! Not only for what he did on the tracks, but also beyond them. Today I was able to honor the memory of one of my heroes," wrote DJ Alok in the comments to a video posted on his social network page.
The winner of the competition, which ended on November 3, was the Red Bull pilot Max Verstappen. The second place went to the Alpine driver Esteban Ocon. The third place went to another Alpine driver, Pierre Gasly.
