A camera on a bird feeder films the night feasts of guests from the forest (5 photos + 1 video)
Danai Wolf's family has transformed their backyard into a cozy haven for animals in 8 years. In 2022, the 36-year-old Ohio resident installed a feeder with a camera in her garden. At that time, she didn't know that so many forest dwellers were visiting her at night.
Danae, a writer and photographer, says, "We were very surprised when funny photos and videos started appearing on the first evening after installing the camera. We were enjoying watching the birds, but later in the evening the camera caught a cheeky raccoon who dropped by looking for a late-night snack."
"A raccoon knocked the camera off its mount, but it kept filming as raccoons, deer and skunks searched for treats."
She says there are plenty of nighttime visitors, and sometimes they bring family and friends.
"We once had a female raccoon with three babies. Last year, the camera captured a pair of turkeys, a male and female. I was hoping they would become regulars, but we haven't seen them since."
"We were surprised to see a flying squirrel at the feeder. Although they are common in the eastern United States, I had never seen one before."
Danae has taken thousands of photos and videos over the past few years, but there is one that stands out as the most unusual.
The American woman says: "My favorite photo is of a deer that looks like a fish. It's hard to tell at first glance who it is. It's all about the weird angle."
