Elton John: "There is little left of me" (5 photos + 1 video)
At the premiere of the documentary film "Elton John: It's Never Too Late," the 77-year-old British singer spoke openly about his health problems. "To be honest, there's not much left of me," John admitted to the audience at the New York Film Festival.
"I don't have tonsils, I don't have adenoids, I don't have an appendix," he continued. "I don't have a prostate. I don't have a right hip, I don't have a left knee, I don't have a right knee. The only thing I have left is my left hip. But I'm still here. And I can't thank you enough, because you created me."
Last month, the musician revealed that he was recovering from a severe eye infection that affected his vision.
In the 1990s, the singer had a pacemaker installed for an irregular heartbeat, in 2009 he was hospitalized for the flu and a bacterial infection, and in 2013 he had his appendix removed.
He has also had knee and hip replacement surgeries.
John has also dealt with hearing loss due to years of touring.
At the premiere of his new documentary, the Briton confirmed that he will no longer go on tour.
"As you know, I made the decision to end my tour because I am already 77 years old. I did everything I could. I succeeded."
"The most important thing in my life is my family and my friends. I found utopia, and I'm so happy," the EGOT status holder summed up.
The documentary includes hits, lesser-known gems of the 70s, as well as exclusive footage from Elton John's personal archives. The world premiere will take place on December 13 on the Disney+ channel.
