Only for the rich: Phuket authorities want to ban low-income tourists from entering the island (4 photos)
The island's governor has suggested checking the bank accounts of all those entering.
Phuket Island is a great place to relax. However, its authorities are considering limiting the flow of tourists. To prevent poor people from hanging around the island, Governor Sophon Suwannarat has suggested checking the bank accounts of everyone planning to visit this paradise. If a tourist does not have 300 thousand baht in their account, they will be turned back.
The visa-free policy increases the tourist flow, but at the same time people come to the country who prefer not to spend money, but at the same time have fun in such a way that they trample on the traditions and foundations of the locals. They violate the laws of the country, do not respect customs, and in general bring more problems than profits.
A new initiative by the Phuket governor could improve the quality of tourism in Phuket and allow tourists to be distributed among other destinations. For now, this is only a proposal that the governor has put forward to the Thai government.
The idea will be studied, and if the decision is positive, Phuket will be closed to many tourists.
