Elon Musk announced a spaceship flight to Mars in two years (3 photos)
The statement is not even science fiction, considering that the Starship has not yet passed all the flight tests.
The eccentric billionaire Elon Musk has once again made a loud statement about the colonization of Mars. He promised that the super-heavy Starship will head to the Red Planet in two years. Moreover, he said that if the ship successfully lands in automatic mode, the first manned flight will take place in 2028, that is, two years after the first.
"The first Starships will be heading to Mars in two years, when the next transfer window between Earth and Mars opens. They will be unmanned, to test the safety of landing on Mars. If the landing is successful, the first manned flights to Mars are planned in four years," Musk wrote on the X social network.
Musk expressed confidence that after the successful landing of the first people on Mars, flights to the planet will begin to grow exponentially. He added that the goal of his company SpaceX is "to build a city capable of supporting itself in about 20 years." However, in order to build a city, it is necessary to reduce the cost of delivering payload to Mars - from the current billion dollars to 10,000 thousand per ton.
"So the technology has to be 10,000 times better. It's extremely difficult, but not impossible," he added.
We should add that this is not the first time Elon Musk has made such loud statements about the imminent conquest of Mars. However, his promises and predictions have not yet come true. In 2016, the billionaire said that the first manned flight to Mars would take place in 2022. And in April of this year, he was more reserved with his predictions, suggesting that the first unmanned flight would take place within 5 years, and the manned one - 7-9 years.
