Drug dealers disguised amphetamine as watermelons, but drugs were still found (4 photos)

Mexican drug dealers are so tough that their watermelons look like they were grown in Minecraft. And it’s not at all clear what alerted American border guards.

“It’s the season for watermelons now, sweet and juicy. Why don’t the Americans get some? Well, a little, about two tons.” That’s what enterprising drug dealers from Mexico thought when they packed amphetamine into watermelons.

Well, like into watermelons, into something that looks like watermelons. And to make it more convincing, these fake watermelons were placed in boxes with real ones. Well, so that they wouldn't be too obvious, you must admit, they look similar, right? They look similar, don't they?

A truck with "exotic" fruits was detained at the US border. A 29-year-old man, driving a commercial tractor-trailer, encountered problems with border guards in San Diego when he tried to enter the US from Mexico.

The border guards were interested in the strange watermelons and took one to try. And suddenly it turned out to be a drug. And they counted 1,220 of these watermelons in the truck, weighing almost 2 tons.

"The estimated value of the drugs on the black market exceeds $5 million," the CBP reported.

The watermelons were confiscated, as was the truck, and the driver was turned over to the Homeland Security Investigations Service for further investigation.
