A bull terrier in Canada received 1,500 needles after attacking a porcupine
In Canada, a stray bull terrier climbed into a porcupine's den, but ran into trouble and left with quills all over his face. The dog was saved by local residents and veterinarians, and now lives in a shelter.
In Canada, a two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Brutus was abandoned by his owners. He began wandering around Indian territory near the city of Edmonton. The dog was overcome either by hunger or by the desire to play: he tracked down the porcupine, climbed into its den and tried to attack. It stabbed the offender with its entire arsenal of quills.
Local residents found Brutus with spikes all over his face, mouth and eyes. They called animal rights activists from the Paws Up Program (PUP), who took the poor guy to the vet. About 1,500 needles were removed from his muzzle. Seven of them were stuck in the dog's left eye, which had to be removed. Brutus is now living in a shelter and is waiting for new owners.
“He gets along well with children and other dogs, although he needs to be fed separately. His wagging tail and affectionate nature will make him a wonderful addition to any family.”
