What do we know about a real midlife crisis in men?
37-year-old Anton Nootenboom realized the frailty of life and was so filled with knowledge that he walked 3,468 kilometers barefoot. Just like that. He says that in this way he wanted to draw attention to mental health problems in men.
10 years of military service and 6 years of experience on construction sites did their job. Anton decided that he had enough. He decided to conquer Everest barefoot, but only got to the very first camp. Realizing that he would not be able to accomplish this task, he switched to more realistic goals.
So it turns out that he is not the first to walk such distances barefoot. Last time, this world was completely clear to the Pole Pawel Durakevich. He walked 3409.75 km.
Nootenboom is not going to give up, and plans to walk another 1700 km. His press secretary said that Anton will arrive in Times Square on November 2.
His walk began on February 17th this year on Santa Monica Beach in California. His goal was to walk from Los Angeles to New York, which would break the world record.
During his "barefoot walk" he collected 18,749 euros in donations. The money will go to various organizations working on issues of men's mental well-being.
