The pilots of a Boeing 747 flying from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria noticed mysterious objects in the night sky. Extremely bright lights were moving chaotically, but were not displayed on the radar. The ship's captain, Ruud Van Pangemanan, posted the footage on his YouTube channel.
According to Ruud, the UFOs appeared about half an hour after takeoff.
At the time of filming, the pilot says: "What we are seeing is still a mystery.
We assumed it was a light aircraft, but it does not show up on our radar. Maybe stars? But they do not move."
Ruud and his partner discussed various theories. They thought about drones, but discarded this idea, since they use radar and do not have such a bright glow. The last option was satellites, but the objects were moving freely.
However, social media users were skeptical about the footage:
"As an airline pilot, I see these lights on almost every night or early morning flight. They always appear in the same place."
Ruud Van Pangemanan has 32 years of experience. According to his social media page, which has more than 130,000 followers, he is popular among aviation enthusiasts. The pilot works for the Nigerian airline Max Air, which operates domestic and international flights.
Last year, the head of the Pentagon admitted that UFOs had been spotted all over the world. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the Pentagon's Office of the Study of Anomalous Phenomena, added: "We see them all over the world, and they do very interesting maneuvers. However, out of 800 UFO sightings, only 2-5% are unexplained anomalies."
