Incredible luck: a farmer found a "pebble" worth $70 thousand in a mine (2 photos + 1 video)
Dilip Mistry admitted that he will spend his share of the money to improve the financial situation of the family.
Farmer Dilip Mistry from the Indian town of Pani found a 16.10-carat diamond in a private mine, the value of which was estimated at more than $70,000. The man and his three companions hoped to extract precious stones, but had no idea that he would be so lucky.
Local gem expert Anupam Singh confirmed that the farmer found a diamond. Now the find will be sold at auction. The government will have to pay 12.5% of the proceeds as royalties, while the four will split the rest of the money among themselves.
In the footage posted online, Dilip can be seen proudly holding the shimmering diamond and then handing it over to the district officer. Mistry admitted that he plans to spend his share of the money on improving the family's financial situation.
This is reportedly not the first time the farmer has stumbled upon such an incredible find. He and his partners have found diamonds before. However, he did not reveal how much they cost.
