A Brazilian whose face was covered in tattoos removed most of it and showed what he looks like under the ink (8 photos)
Leandro de Souza was the most tattooed man in Brazil before he decided to remove the ink that covered 95% of his body. The 35-year-old Brazilian has already undergone two laser hair removal sessions as part of a process to remove his tattoos, some of which are over 20 years old (he first got one as a teenager).
Leandro, a photographer based in the Brazilian city of Bage, decided to remove more than 170 tattoos after becoming an evangelical Christian.

This is what he looked like not long ago
Leandro got his first tattoo at the age of 13. Initially, his body art was inspired by his favorite rock bands — Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica.
A few months ago, the man began to remove tattoos on his face
10 years ago, Leandro divorced his wife and embarked on a dark path with drugs and other misfortunes. But accepting his problems, seeking help from specialists and religion helped him climb out of the hole.
I could no longer stand the life I was living. I was an attraction at the events I attended and felt like a circus animal.
April of this year
In April, Leandro celebrated his 35th birthday and three years without alcohol, cigarettes and drugs.
August 2024
The most recent photo. The tattoos have almost disappeared from his face.
Changes since last session
Leandro has had two sessions of removal. They are scheduled every three months and last between 30 and 40 minutes.
Removal is much more painful than application. Three times more painful. Even with anesthesia, the process is very painful.

Now he's aiming to get that look back. He's got six more sessions to go.
