Bayanzag Tract: Flaming Rocks of Mongolia (8 photos)
Among these flaming peaks, eggs of extinct lizards were first discovered. 
In the evening, these desert rocks are illuminated by the sun, which gives the landscape a mystical coloring. The world seems to mourn the evening departure of the luminary, acquiring a blood-red color as a sign of a small death. 
The rocks look especially impressive from below. But regardless of the location, this spectacle will in any case be indescribably beautiful and mesmerizing. 
The local landscape is no less mesmerizing than the natural light show on the rock. This mystical landscape in the Gobi Desert is perhaps one of the most important places for dinosaur fossil hunters. Excavations in the area of the rocks have been surprisingly productive. 
The first dinosaur eggs were found in this area in the 1920s. And the fossils of Protoceratops and Velociraptor, who met in a fight that became eternal before their deaths, were discovered in the 1970s. Paleontologists are still finding interesting and valuable fossils here. 
The Flaming Rocks are a clear example of the so-called Djadokhta Formation, a geological formation in the form of layers of sand and limestone dating back to the late Cretaceous period (approximately 75-71 million years ago). 
Another noteworthy fact: the Flaming Rocks are called Bayanzag (translated from Mongolian as “rich in saxaul”). This unpretentious plant is one of the few that can survive in the extreme conditions of the Gobi. After all, in the desert, cold is terrible cold, and heat is incredible heat.
