My mouth caught fire: a blogger tried the strongest beer in the world and almost died (3 photos + 1 video)
A blogger named Dan posts beer reviews on social media. He's tried hundreds of different beers, but one of them almost sent him to the hospital.
Dan is considered an expert on social media, having spent years sharing the world's most unique and bizarre beers. He's tried over 1,900 beers, from tongue-tickling spicy flavors to sophisticated mocktails.
Despite this, when Dan knocked back a glass of an unusual beer in a recent video, he almost threw up. The man was sweating profusely, leaving his followers laughing in the comments. The video went viral on International Beer Day (August 2).
In the video, Dan said: "One-minute beer review number 1988. It's my birthday. You all seem to think I look like powerlifter Eddie Hall. So we're drinking the strongest beer in the world."
Dan popped open a bottle of fire-breathing Scotch Beithir Fire from Edinburgh's 88 Brewery, which boasts a whopping 75% ABV. A 330ml bottle will set you back £45.99.
The beer had a warning label advising against drinking more than 35ml of the stuff at a time. The website added: “As the warning label states, due to the extremely high alcohol content of the beer, it should be enjoyed with respect and responsibility.”
But Dan couldn’t resist pouring himself a glass. “Let’s have a drink,” he said enthusiastically, before feeling the heat hit him like “a ton of bricks.”
“It tasted so hot my tongue went numb,” the blogger said, wiping his forehead with a tea towel and gasping for air. TikTok followers burst into laughter in the comments.
One follower wrote: "At least now I know what not to buy." Another quipped: "This can't be called beer..." A third added: "I've watched this so many times! I can't stop laughing. I need to lie down."
