In terms of power-to-weight ratio, the Corvette ZR1 surpasses the Bugatti Veyron.





Chevrolet has introduced the flagship version of the Corvette with the ZR1 index, which brought the model into the hypercar segment. Its main advantage is the 5.5-liter V8, from which 1064 horsepower was removed. In addition, the ZR1 has original aerodynamics and a redesigned chassis. Production of the hypercar will begin in 2025.

The 5.5-liter V8 LT6 is known from the Corvette Z06, where it provides 670 horsepower without the use of supercharging. For the ZR1, the engine was so seriously redesigned that it received its own index LT7. In addition to advanced turbochargers, the engine was equipped with new heads, forged pistons, its own crankshaft, a special intake system, etc. The unit works with a reinforced 8-speed robot - a standard box for the Corvette.

The power plant of the American hypercar develops 1064 hp and 1123 Nm with a weight of the car itself of 1665 kg. Thus, in terms of power to weight ratio, the Corvette ZR1 surpasses the Bugatti Veyron. In addition, the new product turned out to be more powerful than a number of European competitors, including, for example, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Lamborghini Revuelto and Mercedes-AMG One. It is noteworthy that they all have a gasoline-electric drive. The ZR1 is expected to have a top speed of around 220 mph, and should be able to run a quarter mile in under 10 seconds.

The base version of the hypercar won't have many external differences from other Corvettes, although a number of new body components have been developed for it, including a carbon fiber "spine" dividing the rear window. You can give this "Corvette" the most severe look with the optional ZTK package, which includes a different "hood", a massive spoiler, and a large splitter. The kit is designed to reorient the hypercar to the race track, so it also includes different springs, recalibrated shock absorbers, and track tires. Among other things, carbon-ceramic brakes with 400-millimeter discs and carbon fiber wheels are available for the ZR1.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 should be not only the most powerful, but also the most expensive Corvette in history, although prices will be announced closer to the start of production, that is, in about a year. The company explained such an early premiere by the hypercar testing procedure: its display eliminates the need to wrap prototypes in camouflage film, which distorts the indicators. It is already known that the new product will go on sale both as a coupe and in an open-top version.
