Special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense struck a Russian airfield in Syria, - media

In late July 2024, special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out a comprehensive strike on the positions of Russian troops in Syria. As reported by Censor.NET, this was reported by the Kyiv Post citing sources.

The target of the attack by the Khimik group was the military equipment of the Russians at the Kuweires airfield occupied by them, which is located east of Aleppo.

Thus, first, a Russian mobile electronic warfare system was destroyed, and then drones attacked Russian military facilities at the airfield itself.

It is noted that the strike was carried out the day after the meeting of the dictators of the Russian Federation and Syria, Vladimir Putin and Bashar al-Assad, on Wednesday, July 24.

The Russians have controlled and used this airfield for military purposes since 2015. This facility, in particular, was also used for training and sending foreign mercenaries to the war in Ukraine.

The source in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense added that since the beginning of the year, the rebels, with the support of Ukrainian fighters, have carried out numerous strikes on Russian military facilities that are under the control of the so-called "group of forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Syrian Arab Republic."
