The Japanese screwed up - new Lexus and Toyota need an engine replacement (3 photos)
The problem with the turbocharged V6 was discovered at the beginning of the summer, and it seems there is no other way out except replacing the engine.
At the beginning of the summer, the Toyota concern announced a danger that awaits American owners of tens of thousands of frame SUVs with a 3.4-liter turbocharged V6. They discovered a malfunction that causes serious malfunctions in the engine. At that time, it was reported that Toyota was only working on a solution to the problem, but now it has become known that the easiest way is to completely replace the engine.

The cause of the problem is process debris that could get into the engine during assembly. When processing some parts, they were not cleaned sufficiently before installation, so many production cars received engines with chips and dust. This "option" leads to uneven engine operation, a sudden loss of power, which is fraught with an accident, or complete failure of the unit.
In the US, potentially problematic engines, according to Toyota, are equipped with 3,524 Lexus LX 600 units that rolled off the assembly line between July 2021 and November 2022. Also, the engines will have to be replaced on Toyota Tundra pickups, and there are many more of them - 98,568 cars. The recall affects pickups manufactured from November 2021 to February 2023. The concern has already announced not only a free replacement of the V6, but also possible payments of various compensations.

At the beginning of the year, the Lexus LX became the hero of another recall campaign in the United States. On this model, as well as on the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia (a total of about 280 thousand cars), a gearbox malfunction was discovered: the cars can spontaneously move forward even when the automatic selector is in neutral.
