Lotus supercar worth 2.3 million dollars crashed immediately after the start (3 photos + 1 video)
Lotus brought a unique electric supercar called the Evija X, valued at $2.3 million, to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. The car was able to drive only a few tens of meters along the starting line.
The video that appeared on the Internet clearly shows that the Evija X first hides in a thick cloud of smoke from burning tires, after which it turns sharply to the right and runs into hay bales enclosing the track. As far as can be judged from the video, only the body parts in the front part and, possibly, some components of the power system were damaged. The cabin capsule was not affected and the pilot remained unharmed.
The cause of the accident has not yet been officially announced, but according to a preliminary version, the collision was caused by a software failure that disrupted the operation of the power plant. The Evija X is equipped with the same engines as the civilian Lotus Evija. Four engines collectively develop 2039 hp. and allow you to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.
The crashed supercar is designed for track use only and was designed with the sole purpose of breaking the Nurburgring record. In April, it became known that the experimental electric car was able to cover the track in 6 minutes and 24 seconds, that is, 11 seconds faster than the Mercedes-AMG One super hybrid. At the same time, given the status of the Evija X, the title of record holder among production road cars still remained with the German coupe.
