A luminous object resembling a diamond ring has been found in the depths of space. The images from the James Webb Telescope show the quasar RX J1131-1231, six billion light years away.

The gravitational field of a nearby galaxy bends the quasar's light, making it appear as if it were sparkling stones on a ring.

Quasars form when a supermassive black hole consumes surrounding matter, forming an accretion disk. It is the source of powerful radiation.

Gravitational lensing, when a galaxy bends light from a more distant source, allows astronomers to study black holes.

The European Space Agency said the "jewel ring" is one of the best lensed quasars discovered to date.

Last month, news broke that mysterious spots of light had been discovered above Jupiter's Great Red Spot.

The Great Red Spot is the largest atmospheric vortex in the Solar System (about 16,000 km in length).

“We naively believed that everything would remain monotonous. In fact, it is no less interesting than the northern lights, if not more. Jupiter never ceases to amaze,” admitted the head of the study, Henrik Melin.

Scientists believe that the glow is caused by powerful gravitational interactions.

Jupiter is not only the largest planet in the solar system, but also one of the brightest objects in the night sky.
