Nightmare: the first jumping leech was filmed
If you're a thrill-seeker, this special sight is sure to brighten up your bland nightmares as biologists have filmed leeches jumping for the first time. The existence of such creatures has still been the subject of debate since the Victorian era, as some people saw them and other people said that leeches simply fall from above and cannot jump.
This debate has finally been resolved thanks to valuable video footage that provides the first conclusive evidence that terrestrial leeches can jump. During field work in Madagascar National Park, biologists filmed leeches of the genus Chtonobdella, which are abundant in the Seychelles and Pacific islands.
